Last year, I embarked on a journey with my son exploring the D-Day beaches in Normandy.
The landscape in those areas is intensely green, with miles of roads stretching ahead without a soul in sight. Occasionally, we spotted beautiful traditional houses with thatched roofs and dark wooden decorations set against white walls, creating geometric patterns; the beaches were pristine, and the tides ever-shifting.
Our final stop was Deauville, greeted by a powerful wind; the promenade lined with beach cabins adorned with the names of artists and actors; the striped beach tents — sometimes white and yellow, sometimes white and red, sometimes white and blue; the square with its market showcasing beautifully arranged products; and the iconic Coco Chanel boutique sign. Everything in Deauville is chic, with ladies dressed in exquisite elegance.
We drew inspiration from this refined style to create a chic and slightly retro collection. Dominated by geometric patterns of wide stripes paired with narrow ones, the collection features plenty of Chanel-inspired jackets and coats, open-back designs, and skirts that vary between straight cuts and pleated longuettes. Striped hats in straw and cotton add a playful touch, perfect for both day and evening.
The cotton fabrics are crisp, almost starched crepes, while the viscose ranges from matte, stretchy versions that hug the body to fluid, shimmering textures. A subtle touch of discreet lurex completes the look.
The color palette features sky blue, ruby red, nude, and pure white, alongside navy blue and black paired with creamy tones in true French — or better yet, Coco — style.
